What are our advantages?
We are the first company in the industry to offer a "local + cloud" computing platform for photonics integrated circuit (PIC) simulation software. We provide a one-stop solution, delivering software, resources, and technical support anytime, anywhere.
The Importance of Software Simulation:
As semiconductor devices continue to evolve towards smaller sizes and more complex structures, the use of simulation software solutions offers numerous advantages over laboratory measurement methods, playing a crucial role in semiconductor device development. Highly accurate algorithms enable rapid modeling and simulation of devices, allowing the observation of internal physical processes. Through simulation software, customers can not only design new and complex device structures but also propose solutions to optimize device performance by altering operating conditions or various physical quantities and parameters within device models. From simulating photonic integrated circuits to various types of simulations in different fields, spanning from materials to systems, the use of simulation software not only reduces production costs, shortens development cycles, and increases productivity but also provides clear and concise results data for researchers in various domains to collaborate on complex projects more effectively.
Max-Optics Studio's simulation design platform for optical chips focuses on the simulation needs of optoelectronic devices in the integrated optoelectronic chip design phase, providing key functions such as device modeling, device simulation, and performance optimization. This comprehensive solution composed of these functions can help designers accelerate the development of groundbreaking optical products, while improving product performance, reliability, and yield. With high-precision physical solvers and comprehensive functions, Max-Optics Studio can provide a user-friendly workflow for designing cross-scale systems (spanning from nanoscale to macroscale) and support numerous application scenarios.
Software Uniqueness:
We offer two software forms based on 'local + cloud' integration. The first is a software development toolkit SDK based on Python scripting, which includes modeling, simulation, post-processing, and data visualization capabilities. It can call all modules and is user-friendly, easy to learn, and easy to extend. The second is a GUI user interface, enabling interactive simulations using both forms. Additionally, we incorporate advanced grid optimization and GPU acceleration to reduce simulation times. We also provide virtual machine and Windows versions to accommodate various simulation environments preferred by our customers.
Max-Optics Studio's software model of "local + cloud" breaks the geographical limitations, allowing users to model, simulate, and view simulation results on any platform at any time. In addition to the GUI user interface, Max-Optics Studio also provides a software development kit (SDK) based on Python scripts, including modeling, simulation, post-processing, and data visualization functions. It can call all modules and has advantages such as user-friendliness, low learning cost, and easy scalability.
Key Product Advantages:
We currently provide an efficient and reliable one-stop solution for both passive and active devices, combining multiple simulation algorithms. Our simulations exhibit industry-leading accuracy and speed.
With applications in integrated optoelectronic chip and system simulation design, Max-Optics Studio has very broad application prospects in areas such as 5G, optical communication, optoelectronic sensing, optical computing, industrial Internet of Things, and national defense security. Currently, the core computational modules within the software consist of solvers corresponding to three algorithms: FDTD, FDE, and EME. These modules can provide users with precise and efficient solutions tailored to the physical properties of different optical devices. Among them, FDTD is a general algorithm that can be used to simulate various optical devices, especially suitable for simulation scenarios involving complex structures. FDE and EME are suitable for simulating optical waveguide-type structural devices, such as integrated waveguides, fiber Bragg gratings, and end-face couplers.
What products do we currently have?
We currently support a range of devices, including passive devices, modulators, detectors, and lasers. We've enhanced classical CEM algorithms for analyzing the behavior of light and introduced a novel 'local + cloud' user interface configuration to utilize passive modules for simulating optical waveguides and passive optical devices. Additionally, we've combined carrier transport simulation algorithms with electromagnetic simulation algorithms, providing an efficient and reliable one-stop solution for simulating optoelectronic active devices.

Which simulation modules are applied?
We employ the finite-difference numerical method for device structure, doping, and grid division within the simulation region. It approximates differentiation with finite differences. We use the Finite-Difference Eigenmode (FDE) method to investigate the field distribution of eigenmodes, as well as the refractive index and losses of devices. The Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is used to study the transmission rate, reflectance, and losses of small to medium-sized devices. For longer devices, we utilize the Eigenmode Expansion Method (EME) to discuss their transmission rate, reflectance, and losses.
